Bio
P.U.G.G. (Poetically Utilizing my Giving Game) was born and raised in the
streets of Gary, Indiana. That’s right, home of the Jackson 5. A city
mostly known for Steel Mills then, is now known for something else. Being
Murder Capitol of the world. Raised by his grandmother in a house with
several aunts, uncles, cousins, mom and little brother, he learned from the
struggle. He also learned respect unless you’re shown otherwise.
Eventually, he ran the streets as a young teen just like any other guy
from the hood. He attended a lot of funerals, lost love ones to prisons,
and seen a lot of people throw their lives away due to drugs, prostitution,
and gang banging. Inspired by movies like Krush Groove, Beat Street, and
Breaking, he was motivated to write about the struggle. Everyday life
inspired him to write more and more. He was Hip Hop at heart ever
since.
He, and three partners from the hood formed a rap group called Ghetto
Realism in the early 90’s. They were managed by the mother of one of the
group members. They performed and recorded in quit a few places from
Chicago to Gary. They made moves with late local rap pioneer MC Scoop, who
introduced them to the state of the art studios in Chicago, Ill. After a
few years of nothing popping, the group departed, but remained cool.
He’s a poet on instrumentals. Today he is an O.G. and one of the
favorite solo artist out here. With more than 10 yrs. under his belt his
resume includes: The Gatekeepers Compilation album in 1997, Rome G.’s
Out of a Cloud of Smoke album in 98, Black Mafia’s Life ain’t No Game
E.P. in 99, The Moblife Compilation in 2000, In 2002, a interview with
Peter Jennings entitled Our America, a MTV Direct Effect freestyle aired in
2003 along with a E.P. entitled Street Gospel with local legend’s Lady
Lexus of CCA and Mike Lott. Also, in 2003 he started his own label Wiseguy
Entertainment as a umbrella to release his own material. The Street Gospel
E.P. was the first release. Several features in 2004 includes the Indiana
Compilation from No Tamin Entertainment, guest appearance on Outside’s
Area 67 album and a few others. At this time he traveled to Georgia and
recorded his sophomore album entitled Da Game Needs Me. This album was
